Pee Pie Penelope was looking forward to being a horse show dog again! |
Annnnnnd then an hour later I got an email from the show secretary that the show was full so they would be refunding my entries.... Womp womp. I'm on the wait list, but not hopeful. TrainerB and I discussed the option of me still coming as a non-compete and just taking three lessons while I'm up there, so that may be what I redirect to I'm just... Really bummed. I started the year with such high hopes about a show season and it's been sort of an unmitigated dumpster fire π€£
There aren't really any other show options this season unless I aim for the open show in conjunction with Regionals but I have the same concerns about that one that I had about Pony Cup - it's probably going to be a big show with a lot of atmosphere and it doesn't seem like a way to set us up for success at our second attempt showing recognized.
So currently I'm moping around annoyed at the world π at least at Pony Cup I *did* finally get to discuss a new barn timeline with TrainerB and we tossed some ideas around for me using my Gifted grant later this fall so obviously none of this is the end of the world I'm just... Miffed currently lol. First world problems, amirite?
Ugh, I'm sorry it hasn't worked out as expected and don't blame you at all for moping
ReplyDeleteI put on my big girl panties today and changed to a non-compete -- worst case scenario I get a chance to work through the show atmosphere without actually showing!
DeleteUgggghhhhh. Fingers crossed that you still get in. One of my shows you have to be online at midnight just to get in. No shame in moping!
ReplyDeleteThat's so ridiculous π« quite a few folks requested the addition of an extra ring/judge but sounds like that's a no go. So we'll see if I get in or if it's just a clinic weekend up there as a non-compete π¬
DeleteI'm not at the point of entering rated shows, but the last two summers life has gotten in the way of me trying to reach horse goals, so I totally get it and understand the moping. Mope away!
ReplyDeleteI try to give myself time to mourn what could have been and then move on to plans B, C, D, E, or even further down the alphabet! Adulting is hard :)
DeleteOh blah, this is what you meant. But at least you can get several lessons in a row in a new atmosphere rather than not going at all? Totally get the YOLO with the show pictures, it will be quite a few shows before I give that one up!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it'll be good for us, I just had my hopes up about actually showing. Le sigh.
DeleteOh booo! I'll cross all my crossables that someone scratches and you get to show.
ReplyDeleteI feel this frustration as well. I had been hoping to show Al this weekend at a one day but then he had that bleeding quarter crack, and now it's going to be 100 degrees Saturday, so it isn't happening for us. One of these days it will... Hopefully!
I feel bad hoping for someone to scratch because it would probably mean like an illness or injury or something and I don't wish that on anyone or their horses! Haha. It'll be good for us no matter how it shakes out. At least just using it for lessons would be less stress, if still close to the same amount of money lol. I hope you an Al get to make it to a show soon!
DeleteWell, let's hope for a good reason for someone to scratch. Like an opportunity for travel, or they sold their horse that's been for sale all summer. Win-win scratch situation!
DeleteSomeone else pointed out I could wish for someone to get their qualifying score Saturday and then scratch for Sunday, so I'll add that to your good list! π
