WW: Moving Right Along

Get ready ya'll, we did some SHIT since the last time I posted. Soooooo many photos.
Cabinets delivered 7/24, right on schedule!

The drywall wasn't quite done so they hung out in the horse trailer for a minute haha.

Tearing into those cabinet boxes like a rabid raccoon haha.

Sunrise off the porch one morning!

Drywall finisher also painted the ceiling and primed all the walls.

Someone on FB asked about the floorplan and I couldn't remember if I ever shared it. We did make some minor changes, but this is the basic layout. It's not big, but it's a very functional space for the two of us!

I picked gray paint, with slight blue undert inones. This should have tipped us off that it wasn't going to turn out quite like I had planned hahahaha.

DH got a power roller. He thought it was the bee's knees. We rolled the entire house in a weekend (to be fair, we did have to touch up quite a few spots, because we were painting without lights lol)

We had a minor paint catastrophe. And then in my panic of trying to find something to mop it up with I ran THROUGH the screen door on the slider.... lol. Thankfully it was the damaged one and we already had a new one to fix it so no harm no foul.

The same weekend we painted, we moved all the cabinets inside.

Laying the hearth for the wood stove. We looked at the premade ones and they were all pretty ugly (and $$$!). So we created our own pattern with various sizes of leaving blocks.

Grout is messy.

Finished

Sealed!

Painting the floor of the mudroom. The plan (for now) is to just leave the concrete floor - since it's wear the dogs will be confined whole we're at work, easy cleanup is my main concern.

Bye teal overspray from painting the front door.

Fancy tile saw to cut the kitchen backsplash and the marble for the hearth surround.

First coat last Saturday.

Second coat Sunday morning.

Upper cabinets in the spare room before we got started.

Getting this one up on it's base was easier than we thought!

Installing this.... was not. It was VERY HARD haha.

Thankfully once the first one was in the rest flowed pretty smooth.

Well until we got to the cabinet over the microwave where the outlet was in the wrong place... lol.

Getting a little slaphappy by this point. To demonstrate the size of the cabinet, I climbed into it.

All done -- voila! (the uppers, anyway haha). This was Sunday.

My BFF was in from Phoenix so we put her to work lol.
I made her paint trim too. I'm a mean friend 😂

The backer for the woodstove surround

I painted trim for the mudroom

Laid in place

It'll be hidden by the washer and dryer anyway so it's not relevant that I didn't do a great job with the stain lol.

Ready for marble!

Installing base cabinets

Base cabinets all installed Monday!

Marble surround midmorning yesterday

The electrician installed half the lights yesterday - here's the master bath.

Entry light

Mudroom door

Back porch 🥰

Light switches!!!

This pantry is comically large. I'm going to need to keep a stool in the kitchen to reach things.

Set the woodstove up there (although I still need to seal the stone and clearly we have more finish work to connect the stove lol). But I'm happy with how it turned out!
The rest of the lights should be installed today and hopefully they'll finish up the HVAC. Power and water possibly later this week? To be continued!

    1. I no longer question the "why" of anything he does because there probably isn't a good reason 😂😂

    1. Haha that's actually why I left the damaged on one there, I figured between all the contractors coming and going and then getting the dogs acclimated to it once we move in, that it would take a beating, so I didn't plan to put in the new one until spring. I didn't realize *I'd* be the issue🤣

    1. Thanks! I really wanted a layout where we really utilized all the space (so no hallways lol) and we don't need a ton of space with just the two of us - I wouldn't really want to deal with cleaning or furnishing a much larger space anyway!

    1. Thanks! We've never done this so I have no frame of reference but everyone keeps commenting on the speed, so I guess it is going fast!

  7. Your home is going to be so beautiful! Those sunrises from the porch with a cup of coffee will be gorgeous!
I really like how you did the door to the second bedroom on the corner so you get all that wall space to use. Great idea!

    1. Thanks! Yeah we went through like 30 designs and I'm super anti hallway (wasted space) and angling that door really changed the living/dining room space. I'm pretty chuffed!
