I made up for that the next morning by heading out to the barn for an early morning trail ride on Ruby. We were still experiencing unseasonably cool weather (I wore a light jacket on my ride!), and Ruby felt wonderful. The last few trail rides she was exceptionally bothered by bugs, leading to some obnoxious head shaking and refusals to stand still. We had none of that Tuesday morning -- she ambled along at a sedate (but swinging!) pace, and let me stop her for frequent photos. It was an absolutely idyllic ride. Also a little bittersweet, but that's something I'll expound upon later.
This tree fell near the creek between my last ride and Tuesday -- I rode up next to it and the root system was taller than me on Ruby! |
That serenity stayed with me through the rest of the week, even as I had to deal with DH bringing home another goat, boat shopping, shenanigans at work, and a mile long to do list. I finally feel like I'm getting caught up on things, and I'm really looking forward to a long weekend -- next Tuesday is a state holiday, so I took Monday off. That gives me both a four day weekend, and three entire days with DH! Hopefully the weather is nice so we can do some trail riding. Apparently we also have some appointments to look at boats... and with my luck, we'll probably do some hay hauling too.
New goat. |
Lovely trail ride. It has finally cooled down in the mornings here too. The new goat is cute!
ReplyDeleteHe's pretty sure I'm his mom, he bleats at me every time he sees me 😂 He's young, so I think he'll be much tamer than the girls! He already lets me pet him while he eats his dinner.
DeleteI love goats. They stink but they're so entertaining.
DeleteThe girls don't stink. And at least the boys don't stink unless they're in rut (so not all the time?). Baby boy goat doesn't stink yet, but it's coming.... Lol.
DeleteBeautiful photos!! Looks like a lovely landscape for trail riding
ReplyDeleteIt's a view that I never tire of ❤
DeleteSo pretty out there!! And dear god, please do not tell me your DH is going the direction of Hubby and starting to collect boats now on top of goats. We have three (possibly four? I don't even want to know) in the backyard right now and I will actually kill him if he gets another one.
ReplyDeleteWe currently just have the one -- it's a fishing boat he inherited from his grandpa so clearly that is never leaving. Now he wants a bigger boat we can cruise the river on. I put my foot down at 2 boats though. And I'm still not sold on getting another one yet anyway lol. Boys and their toys! 🙄
DeleteAw that goat is super cute tho. And that trail looks fantastic - what a peaceful ride!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was incredibly tranquil and a great way to start my work week!
DeleteCan't wait to meet the new goat 😂😂😂
ReplyDeleteBut in seriousness, really glad that your week started off so well and that you got to enjoy the cool weather before it decided to get hot again/rain!
omg you have to come play with him. He lets me pet him, so he's much more fun than the girls! lol
DeleteSuch beautiful trails to ride on.
ReplyDeleteThey are. It was one of the huge draws for me to board there.
DeleteGlad you had a wonderful ride.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThese are my favorite ride photos of yours to date.
ReplyDeleteWe had a similarly misty morning in Canaan today. I thought of these photos and realized I should try to get Stan out to ride in the mist, too. But then I remembered I like to, y'know, sleep in some on my days off and the mist is a pre-7am thing. Ehhhhh, probably not mist riding anytime soon lololol
They were my favorites too 😍 it felt like a reward for crawling out of bed that early, lol
DeleteAwwww but it's such a CUTE little new goat :)
ReplyDeleteI need to get a video to post -- every time he sees me he runs over to the fence bleating his head off haha. It is rather cute!
