Tack Ho Central

So you know when you make new friends, and they share the same interests as you? Isn't that fun? Except when that interest is BUYING ALL THE TACK, and they enable you, then you have a serious problem. Admitting you have a problem is the first step, right? Tack ho, right here. #noregrets

So last week (was it only last week?), Tack of the Day had a glittery One K for sale, and I was instantly intrigued. I need a new helmet, and glitter is an added bonus for me (#blingallthethings). Teresa, being the terrible person enabler that she is, found me an even better deal on the helmet somewhere else. I measured my head, added it to my cart, applied the coupon, and dithered for 24 hours. The next day, when I went to show it to DH, *poof* it was gone. Sold out. OK then, that saved me from that temptation!

Except it really didn't. Because Riding Warehouse also had a sparkly helmet. ON SALE. Of the Charles Owen variety. And I tried on a CO at my tack store last fall and it fit SUPER well. Uh oh... I immediately began making calculations to justify how I could make this helmet mine. I was overdue for a tack cull, so I reluctantly pulled out bridles, boots, and other equine miscellany that I was willing to part with.

I wanted to wait until I had enough sold to cover the purchase, but I had a 20% off coupon code and my mom needed to place a RW order, and I sold her some of my culled tack, and everything just came together and I pulled the trigger on a sparkly black helmet last night. Oops? #sorrynotsorry

However, I will still be listing some culled tack on my FB page (and potentially here!) because I made another #impulse purchase from Aimee when she was on a shopping binge.

    I need a new helmet as well! What's your favourite brand? I've used IRH exclusively but now think I need to switch it up

      My first dressage helmet (as an adult, after the brightly colored plastic horrors of my childhood haha) was an IRH. It's about out of date, so last summer I bought another IRH, but they changed their sizing/shape and I wasn't in love with the way it fit. I would love to try a samshield but $$$$ (lol). I think helmet brand preference has a lot to do with the shape of your head, so if you can't try them on in person at a tack store, I would recommend ordering from a retailer with a good exchange/return policy (like Riding Warehouse or SmartPak).

      Thank God I found the CO... With the discount it was like $60 cheaper than the OneK would have been 😋 but yes, you win at finding the best prices haha

    My FB is full of baroque tack page feeds that I follow. The only thing keeping me from buying all the things is I want to move this year and when you have 3.5 horses they always have an unexpected vet bill to pay.

      Haha don't even get me started on that. I have multiple serretas, a presentation halter, a ridiculous number of ribbon browbands, several mosqueros, and a doma vaquera saddle that's been sitting unused for more years than I care to think about! I want an alta escuela saddle too, but that will have to wait. Maybe next year 😁

      Alta esquela saddle is next. I have a whole post from about a month and a half ago where I drool over saddles I want.

      I know, we should probably start a support group or something. Except we'd just sell tack to each other (which, ya know, we're already doing lol). It would be worse if we lived near each other....

    Lol I have one of Aimee's old bridles too! Actually both of my bridles previously belonged to other bloggers lol, funny how that works! Exciting about the CO too. A new helmet is always justifiable ;) Plus if it makes you feel any better, assuming you hadn't previously tried a one K before, if the COs fit you the one k might not. I have the opposite problem where COs are 100% no goes for me, but the one k is perfect
